The Island of Guraidhoo
The Island of Guraidhoo is a small local island with plenty of open space, quiet beaches, shady patches of jungle and tranquil lagoon. This island offers travelers a peaceful holiday despite their everyday lives. Situated in South Male’ Atoll, the island is easily accessible and is located close to the capital city. It is also home to a vibrant community where local culture can still be seen. Wander around local grocery shops, cafes and souvenir shops in the main village for a flavor of the ‘real’ Maldives. The community have also taken lead for eco and self-sustainability having adopted excellent waste management procedures and their very own water plant.
South Male Atoll
Crossing the Vaadhoo Kandu, the choppy channel between North and South Male Atolls, you’ll notice that South Male Atoll has a very different feel from its busy northern neighbour. There are only three inhabited islands here, Guraidhoo, Maafushi and Gulhi. It is home to many sand banks, resorts, and uninhabited islands. It is easily accessible to the capital city Male’.
